Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi is one of the best right-backs in the world, but who is his other half? Hakimi’s wife, Hiba Abouk, is a famous personality in her own right.
Currently at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Hakimi impresses everyone amidst the Atlas Lions, becoming the first African nation to make it to the semi-finals. The 24-year-old has made five appearances, scoring one goal, while also scoring an iconic winning penalty in the shootout victory over Spain in the last 16.
Needless to say, the former Real Madrid player has been a standout for Walid Regragui’s side. His wife, Hiba Abouk, may be unknown to some.
The couple met in 2018, while Hakimi was playing for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Abouk, 36, is an actress of Tunisian and Libyan descent, who, like Hakimi, was born in Madrid.
The couple’s wedding took place two years after meeting in 2020, by which time Abouk had already built a successful acting career for herself. She starred in several TV series and the couple’s relationship grew through a mutual sense of admiration and respect.
Abouk was even featured in October’s Vogue Arabia magazine with her husband.
The early stages of their relationship involved a lot of travel as Hakimi was in Germany with Dortmund. The North African actress eventually moved to the German city as their relationship blossomed.
The pair now live together in Paris, where Hakimi plays for PSG and has won one Ligue 1 title.
Hakimi tells PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe he will see him soon ahead of their FIFA World Cup clash
Morocco will take on France on Wednesday, December 14 in the biggest match in the country’s history. In the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the North Africans hope to get past the reigning world champions.
Achraf Hakimi will have to compete against his good friend at PSG Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé has been in great form lately, scoring five goals in five appearances to become the tournament’s current top goalscorer.
The two stars’ friendship comes to a halt on Wednesday as they battle for the chance to make it to the World Cup final.
Walid Regragui’s men beat Portugal 1-0 to shock the world and reach the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Mbappé’s France beat England 2–1 in their quarter-final to reserve their place against Morocco.
Hakimi posted the following on Twitter Les Bleus’ victory over the Three Lions, saying:
“Goodbye my friend! (Love heart) (Handshake) (Kylian Mbappe).”
Hakimi and co enter the game as huge underdogs. But they have stunned one team after another in their epic run, and France will have to be wary.
