SAN FRANCISCO: Meta messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature that allows users to search for groups by entering a contact name on the desktop version.
The feature appeared for some users after installing the latest WhatsApp Desktop update, WABetaInfo reports.
The new feature allows users to get a list of all their recent groups they have in common with a contact by entering their name in the search bar.
It is useful for users who have joined many groups on the platform and do not remember the name of a group with a specific contact.
It will be rolled out to more people in the coming days, the report said.
Last month, the messaging platform was reportedly working on a group chat mute shortcut for a future WhatsApp Desktop beta update.
The mute shortcut appears at the top of group chats and helps users turn off notifications of received messages in the group.
Meanwhile, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg had announced earlier this month that the company is bringing digital avatars to the messaging platform.
