WhatsApp clone spying user chats in India: Report

WhatsApp clone – GB WhatsApp – is spying on Indian users’ chats, according to the T2 2022 Threat Report from cybersecurity research firm ESET. The unofficial third-party application is not available on the Google Play Store, but can be installed via an APK file.

The report noted that India is one of the countries with the highest detections of Android Trojans. Meta-owned WhatsApp currently bans accounts that use unsupported apps, according to the report. Android threat detection is up 9.5 percent in 2022, the report said.

How to protect the device from malware?

Do not download apps from sources other than the Play Store.

Do not download unofficial tweaked versions of an application.
