Post the success of Kantara, another Kannada biggie has been dubbed in Telugu, Tilted Vijayanand, this movie is the biopic of famous Karnataka businessman Vijay Sankeshwar. The movie was released today and let’s see what it’s like.

Vijay (Nihal Rajput) works in his father’s (Ananta Nag) printing press and takes it to the next level. But he is not happy with his personal growth and starts a transport company. He faces so many problems in this process and moves to the next level. During his journey, he gets into politics and even starts a newspaper where he lists who is who in the industry. How he achieved so much in life is the story of the movie.

The film is based on the owner of India’s largest logistics company VRL PVT Ltd. Nihal Rajput plays Vijay Sankeswar and he is good in the early parts of the film. The best role is that of Ananta Nag, the senior actor who is very good in the film. He has the best scenes and does a great job in his adult role.

Prakash Belawadi, who plays the proprietor of the newspaper, was good in his role. Kannada star Ravichandran sizzles in a small but key role and he too was good. The second half has decent drama and Vijay Sankeswar’s journey was showcased in a decent way. The production design of the film is quite good.

Min Points:

The casting of the movie is the biggest flaw. Though Nihal Rajput does well in the young parts of the film, he couldn’t carry the mature role of Vijay Sankeswar in the film. He makes very few facial expressions and does not convey the pain the main character is going through. A more famous and elderly actor would have done the film a lot of justice.

After an interesting start, the film becomes a kind of documentary. Because the director wastes too much time on the initial stages, the most important aspects of Vijay Sankeswar’s political journey, his rendezvous with the media barons, none of this is properly exposed.

There was so much room to create drama, but the director failed to do so. The pace of the movie is also very slow and it is quite long. At least fifteen minutes into the first half should have been cut off.

Technical aspects:

As said before, the production design of the film is quite good. The bygone times are beautifully portrayed by the cameraman. The set work and Telugu dubbing were good. Dialogues were neat and so were the production values. The film is quite long and the Telugu audience will surely find it slow and boring because of this.

Coming to the director Rishika Sharma, she just did a decent job. More than creating drama, she only presented the biopic in a documented form and this is where Vijayanand may not be liked by a few segments of the audience.

Overall, Vijayanand is the biopic of Karnataka’s greatest businessman Vijay Sankeshwar. While his life is shown in detail, it lacks the drama and emotions necessary for a cinematic viewing experience. Since the biopic about whom the movie is made is popular in Kannada, the people there might like it. For Telugu audiences, there is nothing great to pay attention to and ends up as just another routine, slow and boring biopic. rating: 2.25/5
