Ask: I want to take my parents to UAE but don’t have the salary required for this. Can you explain how I can take them on a ‘retirement visa’? If they meet the conditions, can they stay with me in my rented apartment?

Answer: In the UAE, five-year retirement visas are issued to retired residents aged 55 and over. The eligibility criteria for a retirement visa are that he/she must have worked for at least 15 years inside or outside the UAE, or be 55 years or older at the time of his/her retirement; and/or own real estate or property valued at not less than Dh1 million; and/or have financial savings of not less than Dh1 million or a monthly income of Dh20,000 (Dh15,000 for Dubai), and provide a bank statement for the last six months.

Afterwards, the ‘retirement visa’ can be extended if the visa holder continues to meet the applicable eligibility criteria.

So if your parents meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above, you can submit the necessary applications to the competent authorities of the emirate where you live.

As to your second question, your parents are allowed to stay with you in your rental property.
