Twitter’s $8 monthly fee for blue tick verification service now available on iOS

The highly anticipated $8 monthly fee for verified accounts on Twitter rolled out today. However, the feature is only available on iOS in a few countries for now.

The latest update in the Apple App Store for the social media site says the “blue check” will allow users to have verified accounts “just like the celebrities, companies and politicians you already follow”.

The blue tick verification is currently only available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

“Starting today, we’re adding great new features to Twitter Blue, with more coming soon,” reads the update message in the App Store.

It further stated that since users with a blue check mark will pay the monthly fee and in return help Twitter “in the fight against the bots”, the microblogging site “rewards them with half the ads and make them twice as relevant.” makes”.

Last week, Musk announced the new blue tick feature, prompting the Tesla CEO to receive massive responses. He later hit back, saying they can continue to complain, but the monthly fee for verified accounts will remain $8.

Musk said the new feature will allow users to enjoy “priority in replies, mentions, and search, the ability to post long video and audio, and half the number of ads.” They would also have the ability to bypass paywalls for “publishers who want to work with us,” he added.
