Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey’s Apology Amid Elon Musk’s Change Overdrive

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey apologized to the company’s employees today, a day after social media laid off nearly 50 percent of its workforce.

“People at Twitter, past and present, are strong and resilient. They will always find a way, no matter how difficult the moment. I realize that many are angry with me. I am personally responsible for why everyone is in this situation : I have increased the company size too quickly. My apologies for that,” tweeted Mr Dorsey.

Elon Musk, who took over Twitter last week, has fired most of the top executives, the board and about half of the company’s 7,500 employees. The move ended a week of chaos and uncertainty about the company’s future under new owner Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, who tweeted Friday that the service experienced a “massive drop in revenue” due to the advertiser’s withdrawal.

Jack Dorsey stepped down from the board of Twitter in May of this year, ending his formal relationship with the social network he founded in 2006. He has been a director since 2007 and most recently was Twitter CEO from mid-2015 until his resignation last year.
