Swedish caller identification app Truecaller announced on Tuesday that it has revamped its app for iOS users to provide better protection against spam and scams.
The company said the iOS app has been completely rewritten to be lighter, more efficient and offers 10 times better identification of spam, scams and business calls compared to previous versions of the app.
“We are innovating within Apple’s platform to bring more powerful features to users, such as Call Alerts, Call Reason and a useful search extension,” said Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO of Truecaller, in a statement.
“This update has been a long time coming for many iPhone users, and now we can provide them with the best-performing spam and scam identification to help them separate the noise from the communications they want to respond to,” added Mamedi. .
The app also features a complete design overhaul and user experience, resulting in shorter initial onboarding times and faster daily navigation through the app.
The company said it will soon bring major improvements to SMS filtering, spam detection and community-based services, including a redesigned number lookup widget to search for unknown callers even faster.
The iPhone app also gains automatic blocking of top spammers, the ability to view detailed statistics on spam-flagged numbers, and the ability to view and contribute comments on spam-flagged numbers for added context.
