Education is the most powerful weapon that broadens our experience and changes the way we perceive things. Ensuring quality higher education is one of the most important ways to empower the future generation. Since the start of the pandemic, the traditional ways have become obsolete. Transformational activities with the continuous and relative changes are used to adapt to the situation.
There are new trends impacting business education in 2021-22. The current generation is highly tech-savvy and with the emergence of new technologies, education at all levels is possible with mobile technology, cloud services and virtual reality, opening up new possibilities for accessible, immersive learning. Online courses are the most popular way to experience higher education.
There are several new applications that provide e-learning and the opportunity to engage in recreational and interest-based learning. These apps have witnessed an estimated increase of 43.5%. There are several micro-courses that business schools partner with to educate their students with the best knowledge. These courses, accessible on platforms such as NPTEL, Upgrade, Coursera, simplilearn, etc., saw a 48.6% increase. Coursera witnessed a spike in student numbers from 45 million to 76 million.
Furthermore, through immersive learning technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality, the absorption process and short duration of memory problems can be addressed. E-learning increases the retention rate of the students from 25% to 60%. The hybrid learning environment has created virtual business school campuses where adaptive learning, artificial learning and automation are transforming the teaching learning experience in classrooms.
So far, about 21% of colleges have adopted the hybrid learning model. Using AI-powered personal assistants to monitor students’ concentration and gestures is a successful way to adapt to the situations in a VUCA world.
Climatic conditions with enormous environmental instability in the form of uncertain diseases and extreme weather events have defined numerous boundaries and constraints. But digital technology is helping teachers and students transcend these boundaries. By leveraging innovative technologies, international immersive programs bring in the best talents to decipher students’ future career prospects. Estimates suggest that the online learning market is expected to reach $50 billion by 2026.
Business school teachers map technological changes to help students stay on top of the latest trends such as analytics, adaptive learning, robotics, IoT, etc.
Increasing attention is being paid to developing soft skills such as critical thinking, empathy, assertiveness and teamwork. From the perspective of Industry 4.0 and the emerging Industry 5.0, the goal is therefore to capitalize on the latest trends to create empowered human capital.
