Sushant Singh Rajput’s Flat Where He Died Fails To Find A Tenant Even 2.5 Years Post His Demise

Bollywood’s heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput passed away prematurely on 14th June 2020 after which many controversies erupted especially over the Bollywood film industry. Those controversies are not a distant memory. But the apartment where he was found dead is empty and the owner is doing his best to find a tenant. But because of the history, nobody wants to move into the house.

The flat in Mumbai where the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead has been on rent for 2.5 years. However, it has not yet found a buyer. Real estate agent Rafique Merchant recently posted a clip of the flat with a sea view and revealed that the flat is available to rent for Rs 5 lakh per month.

The estate agent revealed that the owner of the flat, who is an NRA, does not want to give his flat away to Bollywood celebrities anymore. They are currently looking for a legal entity as a tenant and it seems that nothing seems to work out yet.

Talking about why there is no new tenant in the flat, Rafique told Bollywood Hungama: “People are afraid to move into this flat. If potential renters learned that this is the same apartment where he died, they wouldn’t even visit the apartment. Nowadays people at least visit the flat because the news of his death has gotten old. Still, the deal is not finalized. The owner is also determined and does not want to sit on the rent. When he does, it sells quickly. Since he sells it at the market price, tenants prefer to buy another apartment of similar size in the same area, as it would come without the baggage of controversy that this apartment is associated with.

“The parties are told in advance that Sushant was staying here. Some people don’t mind the history and want to go for it. But their friends and relatives discourage them from going through with the deal. Now the owner doesn’t want to rent the flat to a movie celeb, no matter who or how big he or she is. It is clear that he wants to transfer the flat to a legal entity,” he added.

Last year, during the first anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, there were reports that the flat is for rent and the flat cannot find a tenant due to the COVID crisis. According to news articles published at the time, Sushant moved into the 3,600-square-foot Mont Blanc apartment in December 2019 and paid Rs. 4.51 lakh per month.
