On the eve of the 74th Republic Day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated 25 Veer Gatha 2.0 winners at an event in New Delhi.
The winners received a prize money of Rs 10,000, a medal and a certificate.
During the event, the education minister called for the Veer Gatha project to be further developed and for the stories of the ‘brave hearts’ to be integrated into the school curriculum in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Pradhan expressed confidence that the life stories of the brave hearts will inspire students to do good for themselves and contribute to nation building in various ways.
The Defense Minister congratulated the winners and praised their courage, diligence and creativity. “Such projects will play a vital role in instilling values of morality and courage along with education among students,” said Singh.
Param Vir Chakra Awardee Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar told his true story of Kargil War where he overcame all odds and played a vital role in India’s historic victory.
The event was attended by MoS Defense Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan, Chief of Air Force Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Manoj Pande, and Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane .
The event was attended by more than 100 NCC cadets and students from Army Public Schools and Cantonment Boards. Students and teachers from more than 500 schools attended the event virtually.
Veer Gatha 2.0 was the second edition of project Veer Gatha. It was jointly organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Education as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
