Thrissur: The higher education department will step in to settle the quarrel over the appointment of a guest lecturer at Sree Kerala Varma College. According to reports, the department will finalize the decision on the appointment of a political science guest lecturer.

A decision on this was made on Monday at a meeting chaired by the Cochin devaswom board here. Following this, the SFI activists withdrew their protest against the appointment.

Reportedly, research students will attend classes until a final decision is made at the higher level.

The interview for the position of guest lecturer at the political science department took place on 28 May. However, the ranking was not published until November.

Meanwhile, the first rank holder joined as a lecturer at Palakkad Mercy College. It is alleged that the head of the department pressured the first rank holder to give the nomination to SFI leader AE Ajith, who secured the second rank.
