All schools in the city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, would remain closed tomorrow, Monday, August 22, 2022. The district administration has announced a school holiday for tomorrow due to the heavy rainfall in the area. The orders apply to all schools in Bhopal, including government, private, assisted and unassisted.
The decision was made in the wake of heavy rainfall in the district. India’s Meteorological Department, IMD had issued a red alert in the state on Saturday, indicating heavy rainfall in many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and southeastern Uttar Pradesh. Floods broke out in parts of Bhopal last week, after which the government decided to close the schools for two days.

Schools would also remain closed for tomorrow. District Education Officer, DEO Bhopal, has given the orders and they have been sent to the schools. Parents are advised not to send their children to school tomorrow.

As for the weather in Madhya Pradesh and specifically in Bhopal, IMD predicts heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Deep depression over northwestern Chhattisgarh and adjacent northeastern Madhya Pradesh and southeastern Uttar Pradesh weakened to a depression centered at 0530 a.m. IST today over the same region about 120 km west-northwest of Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), 150 km southwest of Churk ( Uttar Pradesh), 170km east-southeast of Satna and 120km east of Umaria (Madhya Pradesh). It would continue to move west-northwest across northern Madhya Pradesh and weaken to a well-marked low pressure area over the next 24 hours,” tweeted IMD.
