RSS changes social media photos to National Flag, Cong leader says ‘sheepish’ | Latest News India

Amid the political battle over the display of the national flag on social media accounts ahead of Independence Day, RSS changed its photos to the tricolor on Friday.

The RSS changed its social media profile pictures to the national flag on Friday, in response to Prime Minister Modi’s call ahead of India’s 75th Independence Day. The RSS previously criticized politics over its photos on social media after Congress attacked the RSS for failing to heed Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for his “52 years of opposition to India’s national flag.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dip in RSS and said those proclaiming slogans of “Har Ghar Tiranga” today are from the “anti-national” organization that refused to hoist the tricolor for 52 years.

The RSS rebuffed the congressional attack, previously saying they had already supported the Har Ghar Tiranga and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programs and were discussing photos on social media. “This is a process. Let’s go about it our way. We’re thinking about how we’re going to celebrate,” an RSS official was quoted as saying about the issue by PTI news agency.

On Friday, social media photos were changed and the organization’s publicity department said the workers were actively participating in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The RSS also posted a compilation of videos of Mohan Bhagwat and other RSS leaders raising the national flag on Saturday.

After the change to the photos from the RSS social media accounts, Congress leader Pawan Khera said the “sheepish” RSS finally changed the photos after a week of massive pressure.

While all BJP leaders changed their social media photos to that of the national flag after Prime Minister Modi’s call, congress leaders chose another photo – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru waving the national flag. The BJP criticized, saying that Rahul Gandhi should allow party members to use their photos with the Tricolour.
