Queen Elizabeth’s Doctors “Concerned” Over Health, “Close Family” Informed

“The Queen remains comfortable and in Balmoral,” the palace said during her Scottish Highlands retreat.

Fears for Queen Elizabeth II grew on Thursday after Buckingham Palace said her doctors were “concerned” for her health and advised her to remain under medical supervision.

The 96-year-old monarch has been plagued with health problems since October last year that made it difficult for her to walk and stand.

On Wednesday, she withdrew from a scheduled meeting with her senior political advisers after being told to rest.

The previous day, she held an audience at her Scottish Highlands retreat, Balmoral, with outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson and named his successor, Liz Truss.

Princes Charles and William are currently traveling to Balmoral, Kensington Palace said.

“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have advised that they remain under medical supervision,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

“The Queen remains comfortable and in Balmoral,” the palace added.

The palace’s statement about the queen’s health is highly unusual.

Moments before, notes were passed to Prime Minister Liz Truss and senior members of her team in Parliament, forcing them to leave the room.

Truss tweeted almost immediately afterwards: “The whole country will be deeply concerned about the news of Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” she added.

“My thoughts – and the thoughts of people in our UK – are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family at the moment.”

Heir to the throne Prince Charles, 73, and his eldest son, Prince William, 40, were on their way to Scotland, according to their offices at Clarence House and Kensington Palace.
