Kangana Ranaut continues to speak out against Filmfare Awards through her Instagram account. In her last post, Kangana was targeting not only Filmfare Awards, but also her contemporaries who have been nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role alongside her. In the post, Kangana accused Filmfare of asking her to perform at the ceremony in exchange for an award. “In 2013, Filmfare clearly told me that if I don’t attend their awards ceremony or dance on stage I won’t get any awards and I made it clear to them in 2013 that I will never attend anything that is morally deprived and unethical,” she wrote.
Kangana also called the nominees next to her “mediocre.” “So if they know I will not attend and as a policy they will not award prizes to those who do not attend, so why nominations? Desperate blackmail calls to attend prizes after competing against mediocre work…what is the purpose of all this,” she asked. This year, Kriti Sanon (Mimi), Vidya Balan (Jalsa), Taapsee Pannu (Rashmi Rocket), Kiara Advani (Shershah), Vidya Balan (Sherni), Parineeti Chopra (Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar) and Kangana Ranaut (Thalaivii) are nominated in the Best Actress in the Leading Role category for the 67th Filmfare Awards.
Earlier in the day, Kangana had said she would sue the awards ceremony. “I have banned unethical, corrupt and totally unfair practices such as @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting a lot of calls from them for attending their awards ceremony this year because they want to give me an award for Thalaivii… I am shocked to know they are still nominating me it is beneath my dignity, work ethic and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in any way which is why i have decided to sue @filmfare… thank you,” she wrote.
