Pathaan release highlights: Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Raveena Tandon praise film; Farah Khan calls it a ‘blockbuster’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared the Pathaan poster on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “It’s Pathaan Day.”

Raveena Tandon shared her review of Pathaan, writing on Twitter on Wednesday night: “#Pathaan OMG! Blown away! Just fantastic! @iamsrk @deepikapadukone #johnabraham. Just fantastic! Thank you for being the reason for the industry to celebrate again! @yrf #sidharthanand.”

Farah Khan shared a picture of the Pathaan poster she saw in the city and wrote on her Instagram Stories: “BLOCKBUSTER! Pathaan is here”.

Pathaan may surpass the opening day collections of director Siddharth Anand’s latest blockbuster War. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Pathaan collected €20.35 crore till 3pm through three national chains: INOX, PVR and Cinepolis.

While Katrina Kaif asked moviegoers not to share Pathaan spoilers, Deepika Padukone re-shared her Instagram Story with a “kissing” emoji.

Morning shows of Pathaan were canceled in some theaters in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Wednesday after protests from right-wing organizations, PTI reported. Bajrang Dal activists protested against the film, chanting slogans against Shah Rukh Khan in the cinema hall of Kastur. Activists of the Hindu Jagran Manch displayed saffron flags in the Sapna-Sangeeta cinema hall.

Anil Kapoor also greeted Pathaan on the day of his release. He tweeted: “#Pathaan is not just a movie, it’s an emotion!! @iamsrk @deepikapadukone Looking forward to seeing #SiddharthAnand create magic on the big screen!”

Film critic Anupama Chopra tweeted, “It has taken @iamsrk 32 years to become a full-fledged action hero. It was worth the wait! #Pathaan.”

“I have always been big fans of King Khan but this one, after his long hiatus, is extremely special. Go #Pathan go! May you win more hearts and shatter more records@iamsrk,” read a tweet from Raj and DK.

Composer Vishal Dadlani tweeted: “Aaj tyohaar hai. #Pathaan #JaiHind No spoilers, no images, no videos please. Please support the fight against piracy and report all accounts posting such things.”

A happy crowd surrounded Siddharth Anand and his wife as they visited a multiplex in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon.

“Shah Rukh Khan itna haseen, itna sundar pehle kabhi laga nahi. Toh hum toh usko dekhne aaye the aur dil khush ho gaya. Aur itna khatarnaka action hai, Shah Rukh ke liye pehli baar aisa role hai. Mujhe nahi lagta unhone is tarah ka action pehle kiya hai,” said Anurag Kashyap on Pathaan’s morning show.

According to a report in DNA, Pathaan is looking at a huge opening of €56 crore on Day 1. This would mean it could become arguably the biggest Hindi opener of all time.

Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share her support for Pathaan. ‘To be honest, I’ve never been so excited for a movie. Go Pathaan,” she wrote.

Shah Rukh Khan took to Instagram to share that the movie is now out. He also asked everyone to watch his movie. “#Pathaan is finally here…milte hai bade parde par! Book your tickets now- | Celebrate #Pathaan with #YRF50 only on a big screen near you in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.”

Posters of the Pathaan film were torn and burned outside a cinema hall in Bihar’s Bhagalpur on Tuesday, a day before its release. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan film is screened at Deepprabha cinema hall in Bhagalpur.

Youths from Hindu organizations tore up the posters in the cinema hall and set it on fire, chanting slogans of ‘Film Chalega Hall Jalega’.

A video has surfaced on social media showing fans of Shah Rukh Khan cutting a huge Pathaan-themed cake outside a theater.

Footage has surfaced from Gaiety Cinema showing fans screaming and yelling at Shah Rukh Khan’s entrance.

Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding her song Besharam Rang van Pathaan saying “no one goes to the beach dressed”, and it “made sense” for Shah Rukh Khan to wander shirtless. Read the full story here.

Film critic Suchin Mehrotra tweeted, “SRK might be responsible for one of the best action sequences in modern Hindi cinema with Ra One’s local train sequence… on a train).” He was also impressed with the credits. “Throw in a gloriously brutal scene into the credits that buzzed me more and gave me more joy than perhaps any Marvel post-credits scene.”

“Breathtaking action sequences. Clash between Pathaan Vs Jim is extraordinary. Cinematography is on another level (Thanks Lord Sid). Always had high hopes for #SRK but had a medium expectation that John & SRK’s wish for him to get huge appreciation could come true #Pathaan,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Casting director Shanoo Sharma shared photos of the screening on Instagram. They also had Deepika Padukone.

Deepika Padukone responded after Katrina Kaif gave a shoutout to her upcoming movie Pathaan. Katrina took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday and shared a photo of her character Zoya from her movie franchise, Tiger. Kumaar, who wrote the lyrics for Pathaan, shared inside photos from Tuesday’s screening at YRF. “Pathan screening..! Blockbuster..! Jai ho,” he wrote.

“Considering our previous objections, the changes made to the film are correct. After watching the film, if we find anything objectionable, we will reconsider opposing the film,” said Shriraj Nair, spokesman for Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Fans of Salman Khan have been eagerly awaiting his cameo in the film and have been adequately rewarded for doing so. A number of Twitter users shared photos and videos from the film showing Salman’s performance in the film. It was written: “Salman bhai entry into pathaan is (fire).” Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote, “#Pathaan & #Tiger bring down the HOUSE.. One of the BEST SEQUENCES EVER IN THE HISTORY OF INDIAN CINEMA.. Turns theater into STADIUM.. Baap re Baap kya action dikhaya hai..”

Deepika Padukone shared a photo of her dessert with ‘Good luck to Pathaan’ written on it in icing.

Rani Mukerji made a rare appearance on Tuesday when she attended the screening. She was seen in a saree, sitting in her car as the paparazzi clicked away.

YRF organized a screening for the film crew and their friends and family on Tuesday night in Mumbai. Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan also attended.

Fans from all over the country flocked to the theaters to see the film’s first shows. Videos from outside Gaiety Cinema in Mumbai and PVR cinema halls in Delhi are popping up on social media.
