On Photo Proof Of National Flag, Uttarkhand BJP chief Mahendra Bhatt Leader Clarifies, But Asks Again: “What’s The Problem?”

Mahendra Bhatt, head of BJP unit Uttarakhand, with supporters in Haldwani.

Dehradun/New Delhi:

Two days after demanding photos of houses not displaying the national flag and framing the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ drive as a confidence test, Uttarakhand BJP chief Mahendra Bhatt issued another clarification today.

He said his demand for photos was only for BJP workers’ houses, not for the general public. “I want every one of them (BJP workers) to respond to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call,” PTI news agency quoted him as saying.

It was a warning to his statements from the previous two days – videos of which have gone viral and received flak from the opposition – when he spoke of mistrust and asked “what’s the problem”.

In that sense, he said today: “I firmly believe that anyone who feels for this country will not hesitate to roll out the national flag at his home.”

‘It’s only natural. After all, why would an Indian have a problem with it?’ said Mr. Bhatt.

The controversy started with his August 10 statement in Haldwani: “We will not be able to trust the household that does not have the Tricolor. I want pictures of such houses. Society should be able to see such houses, such families.”

Yesterday he said in Dehradun that he would not doubt anyone; but asked again, “Why would an Indian have trouble unfurling the national flag at their home to celebrate the occasion?”

“Our freedom fighters went to the gallows with the flag high. I want every house across the country to unfurl the national flag in response to the Prime Minister’s call to celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’,” he added. the drive that is part of celebrating 75 years of independence.

He accused Congress of needlessly politicizing the issue.

The head of the State Congress, Karan Mehra, taunted the BJP and its mentor, the RSS: “I agree with Mr Bhatt’s statement that we cannot trust those who do not fly the flag. We cannot trust the national flag and refused it.” on the RSS headquarters for years.”

“They are now talking about putting it up by every house so that people are distracted from their promises – be it getting black money back in 100 days or giving 2 crore jobs,” he added, and also listed some other promises.

To draw attention to price hikes of essential items, Congress had also said that people can’t afford to buy a flag.

In response, Mr Bhatt told PTI today: “The national flag is distributed to people by the government through various media. The party is also helping with the exercise.”

“The argument that people don’t have the money to buy the flag makes no sense,” he added.
