The iPhone models that will receive the latest update are iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone SE 2022. Needless to say, the iPhone 14 series already ships with iOS 16.

We have mentioned some prominent new features of iOS 16 in detail in this article and hope it will help you use your device in a better way.

Redesigned lock screen

One of the most used features on a smartphone is the lock screen feature. The latest iOS update brings different styles to your lock screen. To choose different styles for your screen, you need to press and hold the edit option of your lock screen. The unique feature of each style is that it changes the color filter for the background image and the font on the lock screen.

This feature also gives users free rein to customize time and date fonts and add widgets on the lock screen. The widgets on the lock screen include temperature, calendar, activity rings, etc. The customizable lock screen feature can be seen as a similar feature to Android 12’s Material You.

New features in messages

The iPhones messaging app now has the ability to edit and undo sent messages. From now on, if you make mistakes in a message and then send it by mistake, don’t worry. A sent message can be edited by the user and after the edit has been made, an ‘edited’ status will appear below the message. This indicates that a particular message has been edited.

On the other hand, the Undo Send button in messages allows a user to delete an unintentional message that may cause unnecessary embarrassment to your family or friends.

New notifications

The iOS 16 offers a new pattern of notifications to its users. The notifications have been moved to the bottom of the screen to reduce the awkwardness of the lock screen. However, the notifications can be opened in the same way as before. Users just need to swipe up to adjust them. Users can choose from three different types of notifications: count, stack, and list.

On the other hand, the live activities feature on the iOS 16 makes it easy to follow current events. Current activities such as your taxi ride or cricket/football match can be tracked more easily than before through the live activities feature.

SharePlay features end up in messages

SharePlay allowed users to share their experiences via FaceTime. Now SharePlay allows users to share experiences via iMessage. Users can watch their favorite TV shows while using messages. With a single set of playback buttons, all viewers can use functions such as play/pause/rewind/fast forward etc. This means that any user connected via iMessage has the option to play, pause or skip content.

Tap and drag function on Visual Look Up

The Visual Look Up feature on iOS 16 allows users to take the subject of a photo from the background and then add it to apps like Messages.

Focus mode updates and filters

Recent updates to focus mode make it easier to allow or block notifications related to certain apps and contacts. Users can also manage various applications such as Calendar, Mail, Messages and Safari.

Improved Apple Wallet

The Apple Wallet is available with more features in iOS 16. More ID cards are now supported in the Wallet app. Sharing keys through apps like Mail and Messages has been made easier by using Apple Wallet.

Likewise, the Apple Pay feature offers new types of payments and also supports Apple Pay Later. Apple Pay Later allows users to split the cost of Apple Pay between four equal payments over 6 weeks. The best part is that users do not have to pay zero interest or fees in the transaction.

Improved Apple Maps

The Apple Maps offer improved navigation along with the addition of other services such as public transportation pricing when available, rental car services, taxi pick-up and much more.

Battery percentage refund

The battery percentage feature returns with the release of iOS 16. Users can now see the battery percentage in the status bar. For those unfamiliar, battery percentage has been removed after iPhone X launch due to space constraint.

Security Checks

The security check feature on the new iOS 16 is intended to help those who abuse relationships. The new feature allows a user to review and reset access to your location information, messages, passwords, and several other apps on your device.

The new line of Apple’s flagship devices includes iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 series lacks the mini model that its previous flagship series offered to the customers.

The iPhone 14 with 6.1-inch screen and iPhone 14 Plus with 6.7-inch screen cost Rs 79,900 and Rs 89,900 respectively. While the iPhone 14 Pro is on the premium side. The iPhone 14 Pro has a starting price of Rs 1,29,900 and iPhone 14 Pro Max at Rs 1,39,900.
