New app launched to bring out-of-school children into education fold

The Department of School Education operates residential Special Training Centers (RSTCs) and non-residential Special Training Centers (NRSTCs) in addition to seasonal inns to provide basic training through special classes to the out-of-school children before admitting them to mainstream schools, said Department Commissioner S. Suresh Kumar.

At a workshop following the formal launch of “NenooBadikiPotaa,” a mobile app and portal for out-of-school children (OOSC) developed in partnership with UNICEF, Mr. Suresh Kumar that out-of-school children were identified and given age-appropriate training in these special centers for their seamless transition to mainstream education.

State Assistant Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, B. Srinivasa Rao congratulated the staff of the village and district secretariats for identifying out-of-school children. He said data collected by them would be uploaded to the app and staff from all departments involved in the drive would need to work together to get the maximum number of children to the school.

Samagra Shiksha State Extra project director KV Srinivasulu Reddy, education specialist of UNICEF, Delhi Ganesh Kumar Nigam explained about the features of the app in detail.

Additional Commissioner, Grama-Ward Sachilavalayas Kailasa Girishwar, State Coordinator for OoSC NK Annapurna, Consultant UNICEF T. Sudarshan and others attended.
