In the run-up to Diwali, Mukesh Ambani, one of India’s richest industrialists, was recently seen seeking divine blessings. The 65-year-old business magnate was tricked when he visited the holy shrines at Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand earlier this week.

The billionaire offered prayers and also donated an amount of Rs 5 crore to the temple committees. The industrialist was clicked while performing puja in both temples.

Kedarnath and Badrinath are part of the Char Dham which is considered one of the most sacred places in the Hindu religion. A trip to these shrines is of great value to Hindus around the world.

According to mythology, a trip to these sacred destinations can make one with:
moksha or rescue. Every year more than a million people visit the temples along the Char Dham. The other two Dhams are Gangotri and Yamunotri.

It is the third time this year that Ambani has been seen at a temple. On September 17, the business magnate was seen praying at the Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple in Kerala. During his visit to the Kerala shrine, he was accompanied by Radhika Merchant, the fiancée of the youngest son Anant. Photos of Ambani offering ghee in the inner shrine of the temple along with his family had gone viral.

The chairman and director of Reliance Industries (RIL) was also seen making sacrifices to the elephants Chenthamarakshan and Balaraman at the temple. Ambani was dressed in traditional Malayali attire and was welcomed to the temple by the chairman of the board of directors of Guruvayur Devaswom, Prof. Dr. PK Vijayan. The billionaire was offered a mural during his visit.

Ambani donated Rs 1.5 crore to the ancient temple during his visit. dr. Vijayan told media outlets that the Reliance boss handed over a check after visiting Guruvayur Temple. He added that when he opened the envelope, there was a check in it for Rs 1.51 crore. The board chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom said it was the highest amount ever donated to the temple by a devotee.

The next day, Ambani had also visited the Lord Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. He was joined by Merchant and Reliance Retail Ltd director Manoj Modi. The business magnate also offered Rs 1.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

The 65-year-old said the temple got better and better every year and that made all Indians proud. He told reporters that he came to seek Lord Venkateswara’s blessings for everyone.

Born in 1957, the billionaire is the chairman and CEO of RIL, a Fortune Global 500 company and India’s most valuable company by market value. From oil to retail and telecom, RIL has a diverse portfolio, with Ambani’s net worth estimated at $95.7 billion (
Bloomberg Billionaires Index, September 2022). Ambani is currently the second richest person in Asia after Gautam Adani and the 8th richest in the world.

The Ambanis are one of the most influential business clans in India. Recently, during the nationwide celebration of the 75th Independence Day, their luxurious residence ‘Antilia’ was lit up in the Tri-color. The decorations caused a lot of people to click on photos, selfies and videos.

Ambani’s eldest son, Akash Ambani, recently caught the attention of the paparazzi after borrowing his father’s Bentley Bentayga V8 worth Rs 4.10cr to meet Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. The other cars in the Ambani fleet include a Maybach 62, Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and Range Rover Vogue.
