iPhone 14 Pro battery specs tipped, iPhone eSIM technology coming soon

Furthermore, it is also said that the company will focus on eSIM technology from the start, rather than physical SIM cards. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the upcoming iPhone 14 series will have bigger batteries. In June, Twitter user ShrimpApplePro posted a leak that may suggest the battery capacity of Pro and mainstream variants.

iPhone 14 Pro improvements

The upcoming iPhone 14 Pro variants will have bigger batteries and the company is said to be focusing on the eSIM technology. The June Baidu post hinted that the regular iPhone 14 could have a 3,279 mAh battery, compared to the 3,227 mAh battery on the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 14 Pro could use a 3,200 mAh battery compared to the 3,095 mAh capacity of the iPhone 13 Pro. However, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is said to get a 4,323 mAh unit compared to its predecessor’s 4,352 mAh. However, Gurman has not said anything about the regular iPhone 14 models, as his predictions were limited to the Pro models. In addition to the notch redesign, the iPhone 14 Pro models would come with slightly larger dimensions and slim bezels.

In his latest newsletter before the Apple event, Gurman says he expects Apple to make some camera hardware changes to the regular iPhone 14 models and that would be it. Regarding the Pro models, he expects the following improvements/additions:

  • Front-facing autofocus for the first time
  • improvement facial recognition sensors
  • New 48MP wide-angle camera
  • Enhanced telephoto and ultra-wide-angle sensors
  • Enhancements for video recording and low-light photography
  • Finally, the A16 chipset

Finally, Gurman talks about Apple’s pursuit of eSIM technology. While it was initially rumored that the company would ditch the physical SIM card slot on the newer iPhone models, it’s unclear whether Apple will do so with the iPhone 14 lineup.

Apple will give eSIM a bigger push this time around, with carriers gearing up to direct users to digital, built-in SIM cards instead of physical ones. Apple has even considered removing the physical SIM card slot altogether for some models this year or nextGurman said.
