The good news for Bangladesh is that Ebadot Hossain is back on the pitch.

Khaled Ahmed replaces Ebadot Hossain, who left the field after Shreyas Iyer’s wicket. He starts with a ball of good length, which makes some noise after passing the batter. The bowler finds it an advantage and convinces his captain to opt for a review.

Shakib signals for DRS, but TV playback confirms it wasn’t the bat, but the ball had hit his calf before landing in the wicket-keeper’s gloves. Bangladesh is wasting another review.

A good over from Ebadot, as three points came out. Positioned with a forward short leg, however, he threw a few chest-height deliveries.

There was also a lead for Shreyas Iyer, but Litton Das fails to hold onto it in the fine leg area. He is dropped at 85. IND: 287/6

Taijul Islam finds Ashwin’s lead as the ball spins sharply. The batter plays it with soft hands and the nick rolls off next to the back point. He takes a single. IND: 282/6

Ebadot Hossain starts from the other side. The second ball hits Ashwin on his knee roll, which is followed by an LBW appeal, but the umpire is not interested.

The third ball remains low as the wicket-keeper collects it on the second bounce.

Ashwin plays the fifth ball for a single, connects from the middle of his bat, which is sure to give him confidence. IND: 281/6

Shreyas Iyer was dropped on 30 by the wicket-keeper and then on 67 by Ebadot Hossain, who missed a routine catch. Iyer got lucky for a third time when the ball hit the stumps, but the bail didn’t come off.

Looking to the field on Day 1, Bangladesh could start with a seam-spin attack from either side. If so, Ebadot Hossain will lead the attack from one side and we will see Taijul Islam operating from the other side.

We saw the ball stay low on the first day and as the game progressed it helped the spinners a lot. These factors won’t hurt India at all, who have drafted three spinners – Ashwin, Kuldeep and Axar – in their XI.

Shreyas Iyer, who is approaching his 100, will kick off Day 2. R Ashwin will most likely join him on the other side of the line.

On Day 1, India won the coin toss and chose to bat first. The pair of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill added 41 runs for the first wicket, before Gill fell for 20. Soon after, India were reduced to 48/3, with KL Rahul dismissed for 22 and Virat Kohli for 1.

However, Rishabh Pant took some pressure off when he smoked 46 off 45 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer put up a great fight adding 149 runs for the fifth wicket. Pujara fell 10 runs short after completing his barrel, while Iyer is still present in the middle. He hits 82.

Among Bangladesh bowlers, Taijul Islam took 3 wickets, Mehidy Hasan scalped 2. Khaled Ahmed took 1.
