If incorrect information is entered, taxpayers, besides receiving notice from the IT department, also stand to lose their tax refunds.
The Income Tax department’s e-filing portal allows taxpayers to rectify errors made, if any, while filing income tax returns (ITRs) on the portal. If incorrect details are entered, taxpayers, besides receiving notice from the IT department, also stand to lose their tax refunds. A salaried individual should, therefore, be extremely careful while filing his/her ITR and, after submitting return, check if all details provided in the form were correct, and rectify errors, if any.
