The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday approved the 2022 Childcare and Early Childhood Education Scheme for children aged three to six in government primary schools, according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, an official said. The permission was granted at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here, the spokesman.
The scheme provides for appropriate care and stimulation of the brain in the early years to ensure healthy brain development and growth, he said, adding that special attention and priority would be given to neighborhoods and locations that are particularly socio-economically disadvantaged. .
The policy also provides for hiring kindergarten teachers, the official said. The education department will set the rules for their recruitment and until such rules are finalized, outsourcing teachers will be engaged through the HPSEDC, he said.
The department will set up bridging courses for candidates who have completed a one-year diploma in pre-primary, pre-primary or pre-primary education teacher training to qualify them for the scheme, the spokesperson said, adding that such teachers would receive an amount of Rs 9,000 per month.
