Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch its first electric scooter under its new sub-brand Vida in the country today. The debut of this e-scooter was originally set to be unveiled in July 2022; however, it has been postponed several times.
The company has confirmed that the Vida electric scooter will come with the interchangeable battery technology. Hero MotoCorp has a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based battery exchange infrastructure provider – Gogoro. Both brands plan to jointly develop electric scooters for both India and the global markets. Hero MotoCorp will be responsible for the design and development of electric two-wheelers, while Gogoro will be responsible for battery exchange technology.
Hero MotoCorp and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have teamed up to establish charging infrastructure for the country’s upcoming electric vehicles. The partnership will install DC and AC charging stations in Delhi, Bengaluru and more 7 cities.
The official teaser reveals that the silhouette of the new Hero electric scooter looks different from the existing Hero scooters. The e-scooters share similarity with the Gogoro e-scooter. It is expected to cost less than Rs 1 lakh and undercut most of its rivals. It will likely come with front LED headlight, USB charging port, synchronized braking system, fixed step bar, smart sensors and a backlit color LCD negative display.
The new Hero Vida electric scooter is likely to share the powertrain with the Gogoro Viva e-scooter, which has an electric motor that produces 3 kW and 115 Nm of torque. This e-scooter has a range of 85 km. This electric scooter will rival those of the TVS iQube electric and Bajaj Chetak.
