Speaking of RRR’s success in the west, SS Rajamouli told Indiewire, “Of course I’m happy about it. I can’t pinpoint why it happened, but I’d say part of it is that Western audiences don’t get the full action of Masala movies. Maybe Hollywood movies don’t give them enough of that. That’s what I understand when I look at the response. In any case, that really surprised me and I am very happy with it.”
Released on March 24 this year, RRR also stars Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran among others. The film has grossed over Rs 1200 crore worldwide
