Former education worker charged in connection with alleged sex assault at Durham Region school

A woman who worked as a teaching assistant was charged four years ago with alleged assault at a school in the Durham area.

Durham Regional Police said an investigation into the alleged 2018 incident began last month when a victim came forward.

Police have released few details about the case, other than that the alleged incident took place at a primary school in the region. They don’t name the school to protect the victim’s identity.

As a Result of their investigation, a 35-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday. Police said the woman, identified as Ashley Jansen of Baltimore, Ontario, was charged with assault and sexual interference.

They noted that Jensen served on the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board from 2010 to 2021.

Police say they believe there are no other victims.
