District education & training institutes to be developed as Centres of Excellence in U.P.

HAPPINESS In an effort to improve basic education in the state, the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Primary Education Department will develop District Education and Training Institutes (DIETs) as Centers of Excellence. In the first phase, DIETs in Varanasi, Jhansi, Meerut, Aligarh and Gorakhpur will get the upgrade, basic education minister Sandeep Singh said on Tuesday.

Opening a workshop (innovation theme) on the day, the minister said: “In today’s changing era, the level and scope of education have expanded. Moreover, the medium of educating children changes with changing times. That is why we ensure the availability of smart classes in schools. Laptops and tablets are also made available to the students. The level of education is seen to rise in schools equipped with basic facilities. This also increases the appeal of children and parents to government schools.”

The inauguration event was held at the Indira Gandhi Foundation by the State Council for Educational Research and Training in Uttar Pradesh. The event was designed to encourage innovations in line with the National Education Policy-2020.

“There was a time when children came to school and learned from their teachers, but today students have different types of information sources. In such a situation, it is our responsibility to give the children the right direction. Our teachers are making efforts in this direction, but with innovative methods they can accelerate this work and ensure the overall development of students,” the minister added.
