CBSE Board Exams 2023: 40% competency based questions in Class 10, 30% in Class 12

CBSE Board Exams 2023: Education Ministry Annapurna Devi said in the Lok Sabha today that at least 40 percent of questions in the CBSE Class 10 exam and 30 percent in Class 12 exams will be competency-based by 2023.

These questions will contain multiple formats such as objective type, construction answer type, assertion and reasoning and on case histories.

The information was shared in response to a written inquiry in Lok Sabha.

“Following NEP-2020, CBSE has introduced competency-based questions in class 10 and 12 exams to reform the exam pattern. These questions include multiple formats such as objective type, constructive response type, assertion and reasoning, and case histories based format,” she said.

“During the 2022-23 academic session, about 40 percent of questions in class 10 exams and about 30 percent of questions in class 12 are competency-based,” the minister added.

From February 15, 2023, the theory exams for class 10 and class 12 will start for the academic year. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has yet to announce the exam schedule.

The minister further said that after the implementation of the new National Education Policy 2020, the CBSE advised member schools to follow the recommendations regarding the education pattern.
