Apple: Watch Ultra gets ski and snowboard workout detection

A few days after introducing the Oceanic+ app in Watch Ultra, Apple has now introduced ski and snowboard detection on the watch.

Apple’s Watch Ultra got more exercise detection options using a third-party app called Slopes.

Once Slopes is installed, the watch can track skiing or snowboarding practice and can identify the resort where one is located. The extra benefits in Apple Watch Ultra are limited to paying subscribers.

To activate Slopes on Apple Watch Ultra, users can use the action button. One can also assign a specific button to start workout detection mode via Ramps with a single tap.

To pause ramps from detecting training actions, one must press the action button and the side button at the same time. The Slopes app works with Siri and voice commands are listed below the menu.

Plus, Apple Watch devices can switch to water lock mode when running the Slopes app to avoid accidental screen touches with all that snow around it. Waterlock mode can be exited by holding down the Digital Crown for a few seconds.
