Apple Rolls Out 5G Support In India With iOS 16.2 Update

Smartphone maker Apple has now started rolling out 5G support to all its 5G-enabled iPhones in India with the iOS 16.2 update. The company said that the support will be available for the third-generation iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone SE users.

The move is in line with the company’s previous estimates to roll out 5G support for Indian users by the end of 2022. The option comes with Apple’s new iOS 16.2 update, which also gives its users new personalization features and a higher level of privacy. , among other things.

The full rollout is almost a month after Apple pushed the iOS 16 beta to select users. The testing phase was planned to gather feedback and resolve issues before the final launch.

Apple’s 5G update follows on the heels of Android-based smartphone makers, such as Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo and realme, who are launching their respective 5G updates to cater to India’s burgeoning 5G user base.

For now, users can enjoy the 5G services for free, thanks to ongoing trials being conducted by leading telecom operators.

Last week, Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the 5G service was currently operational in 50 cities across the country.

A report estimates that India will have about 31 million 5G users by the end of 2022 and the number is expected to grow to 690 million by 2028.
