Bombay:

A war of words broke out between filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Anurag Kashyap on Twitter on Wednesday after the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ shared his disagreement over Mr Kashyap’s statement on recent films.

Mr. Agnihotri took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of Anurag Kashyap’s interview that read, “Films like Kantara and Pushpa are destroying the industry: Anurag Kashyap.”

Mr Agnihotri shared the post and wrote, “I totally disagree with the views of Bollywood’s one & only Milord at all. Do you agree?”

In response to Mr Agnihotri’s tweet, the director of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ wrote: “Sir aapki galti nahin hai, aap ki filmon ki research bhi aisi hello hoti hai jaise aapki only talks per tweet hai. Aapka aur aapki media ka bhi same get hai. Koi nahin next time thoda seriously research kar lena. (Sir, it’s not your fault. The research of your movies is the same as your tweets about my conversations. Your condition and that of your media is the same. Do some serious research next time.)’

Mr. Agnihotri asked the director of ‘Manmarziyaan’ to prove that the four-year investigation into ‘The Kashmir Files’ was a lie and took an indirect joke on Anurag Kashyap’s recently released film ‘Dobaaraa’.

‘”Bholenath, aap low-haath sabit kar hi do ki #TheKashmirFiles of 4 years long research sab jhooth tha. Girija Tikoo, BK Ganju, Air Force assassination, Nadimarg sab jhooth tha. 700 Panditon ke video sab jhooth the. Hindu kabhi mare hi nahin. Monkey proves what to do, DOBAARA aisi galti nahin hogi (prove that the four-year investigation for ‘The Kashmir Files’ were all lies. Girija Tikoo, BK Ganju, Airforce killing, Nadimarg – they were all false. The videos of 700 Pandts were all false. No Hindus died. Prove this so that I will not make this mistake again,” said Mr. Agnihotri.

The Twitter war has split social media in half. Some fans supported Mr. Agnihotri while some stood by Mr. Kashyap.

Mr Agnihotri has started shooting his next film ‘The Vaccine War’ which will be released in theaters on the occasion of the next Independence Day.

Mr. Kashyap recently directed the suspense thriller ‘Dobaaraa’, starring Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati in the lead roles, but failed to impress the box office audience.
