On July 29, the Indian government banned Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a popular battle royal game. The game is no longer available on Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
According to a Reuters story, the Indian government used section 69A of its IT legislation to limit BGMI. This section allows the Indian government to block public access to material that is deemed a threat to national security. There’s also talk that Swadeshi Jagran Manch, a political and cultural organization as well as Prahar, a non-governmental organization, have repeatedly requested the Indian government investigate China’s influence on BGMI.
