airtel: Apple rolls out 5G support for iPhones on Jio & Airtel networks: Check if your device is eligible

Good news for iPhone users! The Cupertino-based tech giant has announced that it has rolled out 5G support on iPhones in India. The company said support was rolled out from 11:30 PM on December 13 for users on Airtel and Jio networks. iPhone users are required to update their devices to Apple’s latest iOS 16.2 software update. Those with devices in the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series and iPhone SE can take advantage of the 5G speeds with the new update.

The compatible devices include iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone SE 3 (2022), etc.

Here’s how to activate 5G on your iPhone
Users need to go to the Settings app and open the General tab and go to Software Update. An option to download iOS 16.2 will be visible. Download and install after accepting the terms and conditions once the download is complete. It is advisable to backup all data before installing the latest version.

After the update is installed, users must restart their devices. Once rebooted, one can see a new 5G status icon in the system tray if Wi-Fi is not active. If the icon is not visible, users can go to the Settings app, go to the Cellular tab and access the Cellular data option. In the case of two active SIM cards, users can choose which SIM card they want to use 5G from. Those with a 4G SIM card and a data plan need not change anything as Airtel and Jio SIM cards are compatible. The new update also adds the Apple Music Sing feature to all devices. iPhone 14 and iPhone Pro models are getting lock screen improvements and other bug fixes.
